U10 Girls Football Blitz 2010

Ahane Ladies Football Club hosted their Annual Under 10 Football Blitz in Ahane G.A.A. pitch on Sunday, 24 October, with teams from Adare, St Ailbes, Mungret, Monaleen, St Bridget’s and Ahane taking part.  In glorious sunshine, each team played each other once, playing five matches.  It was great to see so many clubs taking part, with players of such a

In an exciting County final that had everyone on the edge of their seats Ahane emerged victorious and are worthy Junior Novice champions 2009.  In a thrilling encounter Ahane were a shade lucky to be level at half-time 3-05 each, but their superior fitness and class upfront finally told,  as our ladies recorded a famous victory by four points against gallant Feohanagh/Castlemahon  to lift the  title  in our first ever season at this adult grade on a final score-line 4-13 to 5-6. U11 Community Games Rnd 2 Ahane v Mungret

Ahane 2-2 Mungret 5-4

Ahane U11 Girls played well against a strong Mungret team and can count themselves unlucky not to have been closer to Mungret at the final whistle. Leading 2-2 to 0-1 at the break Mungret quickly extended their lead early in the second half. Ahane then went on to dominate the last quarter but alas goals from Niamh Reynolds and Caoimhe Macken were not enough to deny Mungret the victory. Despite the best efforts of the Ahane girls this evening Mungret proved too strong and were comprehensive winners of this game. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze Mungret were quick to assert themselves and they established a commanding lead in the first half.
