COUNTY SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

The County Senior Hurling Championship gets underway on Saturday, 15th May when Ahane will play Kilmallock in the first round in Bruff at 7.30 p.m. Ahane have been drawn in the most difficult group this year with Kilmallock, Doon and Emmets(South Divisional team) The second round against Doon has been fixed for Friday, 21st May, 2010 at 7.30 p.m. in Caherconlish with the remaining game against Emmets to be played after Limerick’s outing in the Munster Hurling Championship. Ahane have had a number of injuries to key players in recent times but hopefully all will be fully fit for the Championship. A very good win against Murroe/Boher in the East Championship and a 1 point loss to Na Piarsaigh in the All County League, despite having lost Niall Moran to injury early in the first half, has given renewed confidence to the team and mentors. The introduction to the team this year of minors Tom Doheny, Jeremy Lynch, Dan Morrissey and Richard Ryan has been a huge boost with all these lads pushing hard for their place on the starting 15. With a number of players from last years team not playing this year (Clem Smith, Adrian Smith, Cathal O’Reilly, Feargus Ahern, Mike Carr) we are fortunate to have talented replacements available. Looking forward to a good Championship campaign and the continued support from all in Ahane. Team Management for this year are Mike Fitzgerald, Denis Murrihy, Jim Hackett, First Aid: Larry O’Connor. Team Doctor: Dr. Blaithnid McCurtain. Team Physio: Paul Murray.
